What to check before choosing a free VPN
A free VPN can be a fine way to start, but you’re routing traffic through it. Check the publisher, funding, privacy label, permissions and trial terms first.

A VPN for your Android phone
Download VVPN from Google Play, choose an available server and connect. Use the guide below to set up your connection and check the public IP your browser shows.

How to set up VVPN on Android
- Install the official app. Open VVPN on Google Play. Check the listing and device compatibility before installing.
- Open VVPN and review the prompts. Read the app’s privacy disclosure and any plan information. Choose from the servers currently available to you.
- Start the connection. Use the app’s connection control. When Android asks to approve the VPN connection, review the request and approve it if you want VVPN to handle that traffic.
- Wait for Connected. Keep the app open while it connects. If the attempt fails, check the underlying internet connection and try another available server.
- Check your browser’s address. Open the public IP checker. Compare with a check made before connecting, if you have one.

Using a VPN on Wi-Fi and mobile data
You can start with the internet connection your phone already uses. When you move between Wi-Fi and mobile data, check the app’s connection status again. A network change can interrupt a session, and a connected label alone does not establish how every app is routed.
Keep HTTPS enabled and be careful with account sign-ins and downloaded files. A VPN changes the route of covered traffic; it does not make an unsafe site trustworthy or remove browser history.
If your Android VPN does not connect
- Check that ordinary internet access works and complete any Wi-Fi sign-in page.
- Confirm that another VPN or a work-managed profile is not controlling the connection.
- Update VVPN through Google Play and try another server offered by the app.
- If the problem happens after locking the screen, inspect the device’s app and battery settings. Device manufacturers may provide different background restrictions.

Check the app for the free access currently available, any session limits and paid options. Downloading an app without an upfront charge does not mean every server or feature is unlimited. Review the terms shown before confirming a purchase.
